Purchase, NY
(Apr. 24, 2012) – Purchase's top tandem finished the regular season on a high note with Monday night's announcement that standout rookie
Jeremyah Schur and undefeated No. 1 singles player,
Brenden Keeling, were back atop the league's weekly honors.
Schur (FR/Forest Hills, NY) was named the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. He reeled in five wins in a 2-1 week for Purchase, taking all three matches at second singles. Schur won 6-3, 6-2 on the road at Farmingdale State, and then lost only four games in the next two matches, as the Panthers clinched the No. 4 seed in the Skyline Championship.
Meanwhile, Keeling (JR/Ontario, Canada) was among the honor roll mentions for league player of the week. He won both league matches at first singles, including an exciting 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory against FSC. Keeling also teamed with Schur for a 2-1 record at first doubles.
The duo has consistently been among the conference selections week-to-week and are now up for year-end All-Skyline honors.
As for the playoff-bound Panthers, the conference's postseason opens Thursday. Purchase will face No. 1 NYU-POLY.
