Purchase, NY (Aug. 14, 2012) – Women's lacrosse will become the 16^th intercollegiate varsity sport at Purchase College, SUNY come March 2013, announced Athletic Director Chris Bisignano.

The newest varsity sport begins its 11-game schedule on March 6 at home against SUNY Maritime. The team will play five home games on the campus turf field. Women's soccer head coach Devon Whalen has been named the new head coach of the first-year program. Previously, the team had operated as a club sport, with Whalen guiding the program during the 2011-12 campaign, her first season at Purchase.
