Charney Named All-Met DIII Coach of Year

Nixon, Neri Also Honored

Jeff Charney (above) is the All-Met Coach of the Year for DIII.
Purchase, NY (Apr. 15, 2014) – For the second time in his amazing coaching career at Purchase College, Jeff Charney is the Met Basketball Writers Association Coach of the Year.

"What a tremendous honor," said Charney, who thanked the Met Writers and also wanted to express his appreciation for them selecting Andre Nixon (SR/Harlem, NY) to the first team and Joel Neri (JR/Port Chester, NY) to the second team. "It was a special season and this honor means more to me than the writers could possibly understand. Coaches work so hard throughout the year and it's a pleasure and an honor to receive any recognition, especially one of this prestige. Thank you!!!"

In his sixth full season as head coach, Charney guided the Panthers (26-3) to the Skyline Conference regular-season (17-1) and tournament titles, and a fourth NCAA appearance in five years, with a first-round victory. Purchase has won 20-plus games four of the past five seasons after winning just three games in Charney's first year at the helm. He previously was named All-Met Coach of the Year in 2010.
