Star newcomer Gabriella Marden has taken to her new surroundings. The standout sophomore hit the ground running in the team's first two weeks of action and for her efforts has been named the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week and the Purchase College Student-Athlete of the Week, sharing the honor with women's soccer standout Nathalie Lavelanet.
Marden (SO/Bayside, NY) won both of her singles and doubles matches, going 4-0 overall to lead Purchase to a 1-1 week.
She recorded an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win in singles and 9-2 victory in doubles in a close 5-4 loss to Bard. Earlier in the week, Marden posted and the team posted a 9-0 league win over Yeshiva, with the standout recording an 8-0 doubles win before notching a 6-3, 6-3 victory in singles.
