Criteria:


Nominations shall be accepted from the general public and members of the election committee through a standard nomination form. Nominations submitted after the published deadline will be tabled until the following year. Nominees shall remain eligible for three years and, if not elected in that period of time, must be re-nominated for further consideration.

A maximum of three (3) individuals shall be elected in a given year. Consideration will be given to the number of inductees by sport in each, annual induction class.

1. Athletic Accomplishment:


Participated as a student-athlete …
Been named all-conference ...
Won a championship, or...
Set a distinguished record, or...
Led the nation in a recognized statistical category, or...
Succeeded as a professional athlete, or...
Any male or female athlete who distinguished themselves and the college, or...
Did the coach render extraordinary service and leadership, or...
Career Records, or...
Coaching conference titles/national titles, or...
Developer of student-athletes, or...
National achievements, such as, coach of the year

2. Academic Standing:


To be eligible for selection, a former student-athlete shall have been in good academic standing during their enrollment.

3. Good Citizenship:


The individual must posse and shall have possessed such qualities as sportsmanship, character and integrity. The individual must not have been convicted of or plead guilty to any criminal activity.

4. Eligibility Period:


A former student-athlete shall be first eligible for selection five (5) full academic years after completing their eligibility at the college.


If a student-athlete has left the college prior to completion of eligibility, the five-year waiting period shall have begun at the end of the fourth academic year following their initial enrollment at Purchase College.

Special considerations can be made for posthumous candidates.

Special Inductees:


Any individual, living or deceased, who has made unique and extraordinary contributions to the Purchase College athletics program, shall be eligible for election as a Special Inductee. Special Inductees may include coaches and athletic staff members, distinguished alumni, friends of the program, and other individuals who are not necessarily eligible as a Student-Athlete Inductee. Eligibility as a Student-Athlete Inductee shall not disqualify an individual for consideration as a Special Inductee. A maximum of one (1) nominee from this category may be elected in any year. There is no expectation to choose a Special Inductee every year.

Induction Event:


Inductees shall be invited to the end of year awards dinner that will take place in April or May each year.

Inductee Recognition:


Each inductee shall receive the following upon, or shortly after, their induction: A commemorative plaque, enshrinement in our hall of fame (on the website), and on-field/court recognition during one of our outlined "Hall of Fame" days.
