Amy Marron

Amy Marron takes over for Joseph Ruesgen, who has been hired as an assistant coach of the NYU men's soccer team.

Thew new Panther head coach most recently coached at St. John's as a graduate assistant (2015-16) and as an assistant coach (2014-15), where she was responsible for everything from video coordinating to player development.

During her college playing career, Marron was named to the Big East All-Academic Team, the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region, the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and All-Big East third and second teams (2011-13). She also enjoyed a stint post-graduation playing for Afturelding FC – in the Iceland Premier League, 1st Division.

As a junior at SJU, she was awarded the Marianne Viscovich Powderly Memorial Award as the team MVP after switching from her usual position as midfielder/forward to center back. The previous season, she moved from forward to midfield and was one of three players to start all 19 games. Her play helped secure a Big East tournament berth.

Marron was a star at St. John's even as a freshman, where she was one of four rookies to play in all 18 games, including 17 starts. She scored her first-career goal – a game-winner – at James Madison (Aug. 27) in a 1-0 victory.

In addition to her success on the field, Marron achieved plenty in the classroom as well. The new Purchase head coach earned her undergrad degree in psychology in three years and is set to earn her Master's in criminology in May 2016. Â
