(Oct. 13, 2009) – Olivia Hintz was masterful at SUNY Maritime Wednesday night, slamming home 15 kills in carrying Purchase to a 3-0 sweep of the Privateers at Riesenberg Gymnasium.
Hintz (SO/East Aurora, NU) hit .455 (15-for-22), adding two service aces, one assist and six digs to her credit. She had more kills than the entire Maritime team. Erika Stahl (JR/Mahopac, NY) also had a great night for the Panthers, contributing eight kills in the win. She also notched a match-high 11 digs.
The Panthers won 25-9, 25-12 and 25-16, and were only slightly challenged in the third and decisive set. Purchase played well from top to bottom, recording 11 kills in the opening set, 11 more in the second set and 12 in the final set. Amanda Zambrana (SO/Queens, NY) had one of her best matches in a while, notching five kills and two service aces.
Purchase kept Maritime winless in the league at 0-6, improving to 2-4 in the Skyline and 7-16 overall.
Maritime got two kills from freshman Jerrica Romero, who hit a .200 clip. Senior Marissa Danzy had three aces, two digs and two blocks and freshman Lauren Johnson picked up a team-high seven digs to go along with two service aces in defeat.
The Panthers will take part in a dual meet at the College of New Rochelle Friday.
