New Rochelle, NY (Oct. 16, 2009) – The dynamic combination of Olivia Hintz and Taylor Edelmann proved too much for the College of New Rochelle Friday as the visiting Panthers swept the Blue Angels, 3-0.

The match initially was supposed to feature CNR and Medgar Evers in a dual meet, but the Cougars could not attend, leaving CNR and Purchase in the lone non-conference matchup.
The Panthers made quick work of their host, taking the first set 25-10. The second set was a real battle with CNR coming on strong in a 25-21 final.

Purchase regrouped and dominated the last set 25-13 to take the match.

The visitors notched a team-high 10 kills in the final set and bounced back from hitting .071 in the second set by hitting .347. The Panthers got stronger as the match moved on, amassing six kills in the first set, nine in the second and 10 in the third.

Hintz (SO/East Aurora, NY) and Edelmann (FR/Bethel, CT) each notched nine kills apiece, while Amanda Zambrana (SO/Queens, NY) recorded four kills and five digs in a solid all-around effort for Purchase. Erika Stahl (JR/Mahopac, NY) shared the team lead in digs with Edelmann (7) and setter Mickaela Olson (SO/Glen Cove, NY) added 19 assists.

Purchase is now 8-16. The Panthers come home Tuesday to host the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
