(Oct. 24, 2009) – The Panthers gave another valiant effort in their weekend tri-match, pushing Farmingdale to a decisive fifth set before losing 3-2. Although they went the distance in the last two sets, they also fell 3-0 to host Mount Saint Mary Saturday.
The Panthers mustered everything they could against the Rams, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22 in a hard-fought matchup. However, Farmingdale bounced back, taking the third set 25-17 and narrowly edging Purchase 25-22 in the fourth before stealing the match 15-8 in a huge comeback win for FSC.
Against the Rams, Olivia Hintz (SO/East Aurora, NY) notched 14 kills and 12 digs, teaming with Erika Stahl (JR/Mahopac, NY) and rookie Taylor Edelmann (FR/Bethel, CT). Purchase didn't fare as well against MSM, falling 25-7, 28-26 and 27-25. The Panthers did show their mettle again, though, pushing the Blue Knights in the final two sets after a tough opener. Edelmann and Hintz led the way once more. Edelmann had 10 kills and 12 digs and Hintz recorded six kills and 16 digs.
