Brooklyn, NY
(Oct. 6, 2009) – Coming off a disappointing weekend, the Panthers got healthy Tuesday night at Brooklyn, sweeping the host Bridges in straight sets: 25-23, 25-11 and 25-21.
The first set was tight all the way, but the Panthers pulled through in the end behind the strong hitting of Taylor Edelmann (FR/Bethel, CT), who notched eight kills, and Olivia Hintz (SO/East Aurora, NY) who tallied seven.
After being dominated in the second set 25-11, Brooklyn College bounced back and took an early lead in the third. However, Purchase's offense again proved to be too strong, and they took the final set 25-21.
Edelmann and Hintz also recorded seven digs apiece, while teammate Erika Stahl (JR/Mahopac, NY) contributed five kills and four digs on the night. And Purchase's Mickaela Olson (SO/Glen Cove, NY) dished out 16 assists in the match.
Daphne Brunet led the Bridges with six kills, while captain Thea Schleiben recorded a team leading eight assists. Joy Rotstein contributed one kill of her own.
Purchase is now 6-13 overall. The Panthers return home Friday night for a matchup with Sage. Match time has been moved to 7 p.m.
