(Oct. 15, 2010) – The Sage Colleges tallied a 3-1 win after dropping the first set Friday night, besting visiting Purchase.
Sage improves to 4-17 overall and 3-5 in the Skyline Conference, while Purchase falls to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Purchase won the first set 26-24. Sage tied the action at 1-1 after winning the second set, 25-23 and took a 2-1 lead after winning the third set, 25-10.
Sage captured the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set after a Panther rally fell short.
Sage senior Cheryce Harvey totaled 17 digs with three kills for the Gators, while setter Joanie Cooney connected for 28 setting assists with 17 digs and six service aces.
Sage's Kelsey Wilson tallied 16 digs on the night with six service aces.
For the Panthers, junior
Rebecca Dittler (JRElmira Heights, NY) added six kills with two setting assists, 16 digs and six blocks. Outside hitter
Erika Stahl (SR/Mahopac, NY) had five kills with 11 digs and an ace, while
Michelle Fetky (SR/Lk. Ronkonkoma, NY) added seven digs with five aces.
