New York, NY
(Oct. 4, 2010) – Although short on personnel, Purchase's “Super Six” responded to the lack of depth Monday night at John Jay by rising to the challenge in a 3-1 Panther win.
Purchase, which had only six players available for the match, dropped the opening set 25-21, but roared back to take the match in four. The Panthers clinched a 25-16 victory in the second, third and fourth set, topping the shocked Bloodhounds in one of their best performances of the fall.
The Panthers hit .235 in the opener and played their best volleyball in the second and third sets, recording hitting percentages of .375 and .344, respectively. Purchase had 13 kills in an important third set win. Then, the Panthers closed out the match with nine more kills, duplicating their performance from the second set.
With the non-conference loss, John Jay is now 2-13 overall. Purchase is 4-6 this season.
