Newark, NJ (Sept. 18, 2010) – Fresh of its first win of the season, Purchase College women's volleyball suffered a minor setback in a non-conference match at Rutgers-Newark Saturday.

The Panthers fell 3-0 to the Scarlet Raiders and are now 1-3 to start the season. Rutgers-Newark won 25-12, 25-13, 25-19. Middle blocker Rachel Witt and outside hitter Ula Nieznalska had career-highs in aces without dropping a set in the Golden Dome.

In the opening match win over Purchase, Witt delivered a career-high 12 aces while notching a double-double by adding 10 kills. Rutgers-Newark setter Jen Mendoza collected 20 assists and Nieznalska collected a match-high 10 digs.

The Panthers were paced by Rebecca Dittler (JR/Elmira Heights, NY), who notched 5.5 points on three kills, an ace, a solo block and an assisted block. Michelle Fetky (SR/ Lk. Ronkonkoma, NY) added four kills for the Panthers.

Purchase will look to bounce back Thursday at Sarah Lawrence in another non-conference tilt before opening its league schedule on Sept. 25 at CMSV.
