Purchase, NY (Sept. 27, 2010) – The Panthers wasted little time getting back to their winning ways Monday night, coming from behind to topple visiting College of New Rochelle, 3-1.
Purchase (3-5) rebounded from a pair of conference losses Sunday at the College of Mount Saint Vincent by downing CNR 16-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18.
The Panthers recorded a paltry .160 hitting percentage in the opener, although the team did collect their highest kill total in the first set. Purchase settled down in the second, posting a .304 mark and then a .384 mark in the third set. Purchase finished with 36 kills for the match.
The night belonged to
Olivia Hintz (JR/East Aurora, NY), who paced the Panthers with 11 kills.
Michelle Fetky (SR/ Lk. Ronkonkoma, NY) followed suit with nine of her own, and
Rebecca Dittler (JR/Elmira Heights, NY) finished with eight.
Lindsay Navagh (FR/Fulton, NY) and
Mickaela Olson (JR/Glen Cove, NY) combined for 30 of the team's 31 assists. Navagh led the way with 17.
Up next for Purchase: The Panthers will travel to Lehman College Thursday for another non-conference tilt.
