Brooklyn, NY (Oct. 20, 2011) – Brooklyn College celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 win over visiting Purchase Thursday night.
Brooklyn recognized seniors Caitlin McMullen and Iris Clopton-Robinson prior to its home match and then proceeded to take the contest in straight sets: 25-15, 25-22, 25-12.

The Bulldogs were in control right from the start as McMullen and Alicia Sanchez spurred the hosts out to a commanding 14-4 lead in the opener. Purchase would rally to close the deficit to eight at 19-11, however, that is the closest the Panthers would get as BC wrapped up the first set strong.

In the second set, the Panthers put up some resistance as they fought back from a 5-2 deficit to take a 17-15 lead midway through they set on a Lindsay Froman (SR/Medina, NY) kill. Brooklyn would answer right back with a Maritza Morency kill, accompanied by a couple of McMullen aces and a Purchase attack error, to regain the lead, 19-18.  Purchase would win the following two points to go up 20-19, but the home Bulldogs proved to be too much, finishing the set with a 6-2 rally.

In the third set, Purchase played hard to tie Brooklyn at 11 early on before the Bulldogs cruised for the remainder, finishing the set on a 14-1 run.

The offensive star of the evening for BC was Morency, who would finish with a match-high 15 kills, while hitting at a .500 percent clip. McMullen, shined in her last home regular season match, with six kills and five aces.

The Panthers were paced by Froman's seven kills. Rookie Jenna Nardi (FR/Yorktown Heights, NY) added six in defeat.
