Purchase, NY (Oct. 3, 2011) – Tearing a page from a tough, hard-fought five-set loss to the College of New Rochelle last time out, Purchase returned home Monday night and delivered a heartbreaker of its own.

The Panthers, which trailed 0-2 heading into the third set, staged a dramatic come-from-behind victory against visiting York College.

The Panthers won 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-10 to improve to 4-7 in the non-conference showdown.

Purchase started poorly, but rebounded nicely in the final three sets. Under the tutelage of head coach Bill Kutner, Purchase maintained its composure and edged the Cardinals down the stretch.

Gritty play and persistence has been the name of the game for the Panthers this season.

The Panthers were paced by defensive specialist Mickaela Olson (SR/ Glen Cove, NY), who had 32 digs.

Purchase began its rally jumping to an early lead in the third set.

Offensively, Purchase was paced by Olivia Hintz (SR/ East Aurora, NY), who recorded eight kills, and Jenna Nardi (Fr/Yorktown Heights, NY), who finished with a team-high 10 kills.

York (4-16) was led by Stayce Kay Muirhead's 11 kills. Pamela Yap added 33 assists in a nice effort.

The Panthers hope to build off tonight's momentum when they host conference rival Sage this Friday at 7 p.m.
