Panthers Celebrate Pink Day

WP Wins Match 3-0

Box Score

Purchase, NY (Oct. 13, 2012) – Women's volleyball took to the court Saturday for a good cause.

The Panthers celebrated “Pink Day” in the name of breast cancer awareness, welcoming a large crowd to the Purchase gymnasium. All proceeds from the afternoon benefited breast cancer research, as the team rallied around the effort, clad in pink, to take on William Paterson in a non-conference match.

The Pioneers would earn a 3-0 win (25-9, 25-14, 25-16) in the tilt, but everyone was a winner on Saturday. Friends and families were in attendance for the festivities and to take part in Purchase's annual Family Day – the first of its kind this fall and for many, the first day that parents had come to the campus since student move in day in late August.

Purchase (1-15) was paced by co-captain Cathryn Mulvey (JR/Scarsdale, NY) and her six kills. Rookie Megan Toole (FR/Hamburg, NY) added eight digs in another solid effort.

William Paterson (14-7) was led by Shauna VanDeRee and Erika Masso, who contributed seven and six kills, respectively. Setter Liz Dykhouse handed out a match-high 16 assists.

The Panthers will be back in action Monday night at home.
