Purchase, NY (Sept. 28, 2012) – Women's soccer returned to the turf Friday night and continued their domination of the Skyline Conference. The first-place Panthers soundly defeated winless SUNY Maritime, 5-0, to stay atop the league standings.

Purchase coasted to a 3-0 start in conference play, utilizing an impressive first half offensively. The Panthers scored five goals in the opening 45 minutes, highlighted by two goals by Marykate McGee (FR/East Rockaway, NY), including the first of the game, and three single goals from Kristen Condosta (FR/Newburgh, NY), Cat Viscardi (SO/Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) and Samantha Secord (FR/Hopewell Junction, NY).

Secord capped the scoring in the first with a highlight reel, dribble into the goal, eluding several defenders en route to a 5-0 margin. For Secord, the silky smooth goal was her second of the season. As for McGee, she scored her second and third strikes of the season. In between, Condosta collected her third score of the fall, and Viscardi made it 4-0 on her second score of the early season. Viscardi, an All-Skyline selection from a year ago, was extremely on point in the first, adding two assists to her credit.

Stacked to a large lead, Purchase has a workmanlike second half and played some solid ball control to put the finishing touches on the win. Head coach Devon Whalen also took the opportunity to play several role players over the final 45 minutes.

Purchase (4-4, 3-0 Skyline) outshot Maritime 24-0 in the first and 28-1 for the game, dropping the Privateers to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in Skyline play.

The Panthers will now have one day off before facing the City College of New York on Sunday in Randall's Island Park.
