(Oct. 19, 2013) – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team posted an important 3-0 league victory over Purchase on Saturday night at Tibbetts Brook Park.
The Dolphins were led by a pair of goals from Allison Bhadai and a three-point effort from Vanessa Cornacchio in a win that pushes them into fifth in the league rankings.
Cornacchio scored the game winning goal in the 33rd minute on Saturday to break a scoreless tie at 32:28. She cleaned up a rebound off a free-kick off the foot of Charlotte Barnham for her 12th tally of the season.
Bhadai gave Mount Saint Vincent a two goal advantage 63 seconds later when she got on the board with her fourth goal of the season.
Mount Saint Vincent capped its scoring in the 53rd minute when Bhadai struck for her second goal of the night at 52:23.
CMSV's Kelly Hilly earned her sixth win in goal on Saturday and recorded her third shutout in the win. She stopped eight shots.
Despite the loss, Purchase held its own. The Panthers finished the night with the advantage in shots at 15-10 overall and 8-7 in shots on goal. The Panthers rounded out the night with a 2-1 edge in corner kicks, but struggled to find the back of the net in defeat.
