Purchase, NY (Oct. 24, 2013) – Winter coats, hats and gloves were the common wear among spectators out at the turf Thursday evening, but even the windchill couldn't stop the Purchase women's soccer team from celebrating two seniors in their final home game of the season.

The Panthers hosted the Raptors of Bard College in the non-conference tilt.

Bard took home the 3-1 win, despite a hard-fought battle on both ends.

Prior to the first whistle, seniors Jess Lindsay (SR/Rochester, NY) and Alexis Trainor (SR/Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) along with their family and friends were invited out to midfield as MC Bobby Ciafardini, the program's Sports Information Director, highlighted each student-athlete's individual accomplishments.

"Both seniors bring a unique element to this team and will surly be missed in the program's future," head coach Stephanie Janasiewicz said. "Lex has been a vital part of our defense since her freshman year and has done nothing but great things as co-captain this season. Jess has been the rock on this team, playing exceptionally game after game.

The Raptors scored all three of their goals in the second half on Thursday. Abbey Labrecque earned the first goal off a deflection. Brianna Bean accounted for the next two Bard goals, each of which came off crosses into the 18-yard box.

Purchase's lone goal was scored on a penalty kick by center midfielder Gia Sergovich (JR/Watervliet, NY)

Bard outshot Purchase, 10-3. Lindsay took the loss for Purchase, despite recording five spectacular saves in net. Imani Humphries (SO/Washington, DC) came in for Lindsay with 25 minutes left of play and added another two saves in the books for Purchase.

The Panthers are back in action Monday as they travel to Old Westbury for the final Conference game of the regular season. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
