Purchase, NY (Sept. 10, 2013) – The Purchase women's volleyball team used a balanced attack that led to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 29-27) win earlier this evening in a non-conference match against John Jay College.
 
This is the second home victory for the Panthers. Captain Cathryn Mulvey (SR/Scarsdale, NY) went for a .461 hitting percentage in all three sets to achieve eight kills. Mulvey's performance coupled with the 27 assists for setter Olivia Schoeller (FR/Ronkonkoma, NY) aided Purchase in the shutout.
 
The third set found fans at the edge of their seats.  With the game tied at 24 and then again at 27, Purchase finally ended the night on a serve from Schoeller. 

In the effort, outside hitter Alicia McCarthy (FR/Plano, TX) led the Panthers with 17 kills on a .333 hitting percentage for the evening. Schoeller paced the offense with 27 assists. 

Purchase is now 2-1 on the season.
 
Looking ahead, Purchase travels to New Rochelle for a non-conference match at College of New Rochelle on Thursday.  First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
