Hyde Park, NY (Sept. 28, 2013) – The Culinary Institute of America improved to 7-1 on the fall season Saturday at home, defeating visiting Purchase 3-0.

CIA won 25-22, 25-19 and 25-18 as the Panthers battled, but could not overcome early set deficits in the loss.

CIA was led by Christine Gibson and LaRae Willis, who both recorded five kills apiece. Setter Kristin McGinn totaled a match-high 20 assists and added four digs in the victory. Three others netted four kills each for CIA in a balanced effort for the hosts.

Purchase was paced by Alicia McCarthy (FR/Plano, TX) and Cathryn Mulvey (SR/Scarsdale, NY). The duo shared the match high of seven kills. Olivia Schoeller (FR/Ronkonkoma, NY) handed out 18 assists and also contributed six service aces in defeat.

The Panthers will look to regroup Monday against York.
