Emily Saltman scored two goals apiece on Monday, as the Purchase women's soccer team shut out York, 7-0.
The host Panthers improved their record to 6-5 while the Cardinals drop to 2-9.
Green (Roslyn Heights, NY) opened up the scoring off a penalty kick at 8:23.
Saltman (Huntington, NY) followed suit with a chip past the keeper in the 18th minute to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead over York. The goal was assisted by center midfielder
Gia Sergovich (SR/Watervliet, NY).
Less than 10 minutes later, Saltman sent a cross from the right side to teammate
Leah Woods (FR/Saratoga Springs, NY) who finished with a header into the upper right corner of the net.
Assisted by Woods, Green scored the fourth goal at 33:43.
Outshooting York 17-1, the Panthers led 4-0 going into the second half.
The Panthers did not drop the pressure, scoring another three goals in the final 45 minutes.
Saltman scored her second goal of the game and sixth of the season at 55:03 off a through ball from Green. Green assisted again on a
Pernille Karlsen (JR/Hadsund, Denmark) goal in the 60th minute.
With just over 10 minutes left to play, Sergovich knocked off a pass to
Nathalie Lavelanet (SR/South Salem, NY) who turned and ripped a shot over the keepers head to score the seventh and final goal of the game.
The Cardinals were outshot by the Panthers 34-2 with Purchase holding a 20-2 advantage in shots on goal and 11-0 in corner kicks.
York goalkeeper Sarah Hilaire recorded an impressive 13 saves despite taking the loss for the visitors.
Purchase is back at it again tomorrow as they host Farmingdale State in a rescheduled Skyline Conference match at 7 p.m.
