Rams Cruise Past Purchase, 8-0

Box Score

Purchase, NY (Oct. 14, 2014) – Seven-time Skyline Conference Champions Farmingdale State shut out host Purchase College, 8-0, under the lights on Tuesday.

The Panthers (6-6, 2-2 Skyline) held the Rams in check until Ashlee Thompson sent a cross from the right side to teammate Taylor Howard, who opened up the scoring with a volley into the upper left corner of the net.  Howard also scored the fourth goal of the game to bring her season tally to 11 goals.

Farmingdale's Amanda Khare scored at 24:38 followed by Thompson at 28:22 to bring the Rams to a 3-0 edge over the Panthers at the end of the first half.

The final 45 minutes proved even more difficult for Purchase as they gave up another five goals off seven shots on net.

The fifth goal of the game, scored by Alena Gannon, came at 58:21 with an assist from Shannon Murphy.  Purchase struggled to keep pace with Farmingdale's deep roster as three substitutes, Melissa Lijo, Sam Johrden and Alexis Caracappa, scored the final three goals for the Rams.

The Panthers were outshot 29-2 including a 16-2 shots on net differential.

Purchase goalkeeper Briana Leon (SO/Glen Cove, NY) totaled eight saves in 90 minutes of action as her record drops to 5-4 on the season.

Hoping to bounce back from tonight's loss, the Panthers return to action on Thursday, Oct. 17 for a Skyline matchup against Sarah Lawrence at 7 p.m.
