Purchase, NY (Oct. 14, 2014) – The Panthers lost to William Patterson in straight sets Tuesday night by a final score of 25-6, 25-6, 25-8. 

William Patterson started the first set aggressively, taking an early 11-3 lead, forcing the Panthers to take a timeout. Purchase captain Alex Lally (SO/Sunnyvale, TX) had a nice kill later in the set to temporarily shift the momentum in the Panthers' favor, but WP was too strong, capturing the opener and the middle set by the same margin. William Patterson started out the final stanza hot, protecting the front of the net with several blocks and attacking the Purchase defense en route to the sweep.

For the home side, the Panthers were paced by Lally, Victoria Blum (SO/Bronx, NY) and Mildi Rodriguez (SR/Yonkers, NY).

Lally had a tied team-high three kills, a game-high 24 digs, one assist, one block and one service ace. Blum collected three kills of her own, six digs and two assists. Rodriguez tallied 11 digs.

The Pioneers were led by Erinn Carson, Daniella Salemo, Ariana Gomez and captain Shauna VanDeRee.

Carson had a game-high 15 assists. Salemo collected three kills, a game-high seven service aces and a team-high seven digs. Gomez tallied a game-high four blocks. VanDeRee followed with a game-high nine kills, one service ace, three blocks and three digs.

Up next, Purchase will host the College of New Rochelle on Senior Night this Thursday night.
