(Oct. 16, 2014) – Seniors
Mildi Rodriguez and
Jasmine Rippey were honored before Thursday night's home matchup with the College of New Rochelle on Senior Night.
Rodriguez (SR/Yonkers, NY), a four-year varsity player, and Rippey (SR/Deansboro, NY), a three-sport athlete who joined the team this season, were recognized with flowers and a certificate from the Sports Information office. The two will also be celebrated during the program's annual awards banquet in May. The brief ceremony was MCed by
SID Bobby Ciafardini and included parents, family and friends of the two seniors.
Although the ceremony created a positive vibe for the Panthers and the home crowd, CNR is putting together a very strong season and posted another win, taking the match in three sets – 25-4, 25-7, 25-8.
CNR is 20-7 this fall. The loss dropped Purchase to 2-20.
The visitors were led by Meghan King and her eight kills. Fabiola Padilla Rios added seven of her own. Melanie Lopez Soto handed out a match-high 19 assists in the win, while Tiany Perez Diaz contributed 12 digs.
The Panthers were paced by setter
Alex Lally (SO/Sunnyvale, TX), who registered 10 digs, one block assist and one kill.
Emily Seto (SO/North Brunswick, NJ) totaled two kills and three digs in a nice effort as well for Purchase.
Looking to rebound, the Panthers will now travel to SUNY Maritime this Saturday as part of a conference tri-match.
