Amanda Green scored in the opening three minutes as Purchase College downed host John Jay College, 4-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match Monday evening.
The Panthers, now 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline, padded their lead with with three additional goals in the second half.
Leah Woods (Saratoga Springs, NY) scored goal number two, the first in her Purchase career, which was assisted by Green (SO/Roslyn Heights, NY).
Green went on to score the third goal during the 67
th minute. Both of Green's goals were assisted by rookie
Emily Saltman (FR/Huntington, NY).
With just under a minute left to play, Saltman was played a pass by teammate
Pernille Karlsen (JR/Hadsund, Denmark). Saltman found success on a breakaway, scoring the fourth and final goal of the game, and the second in her collegiate career.
The Bloodhounds were outshot by the Panthers 20-6 with Purchase holding a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal and 3-2 in corner kicks.
First-year goalkeeper
Briana Leon (SO/Glen Cove, NY) made four saves to secure the shutout. John Jay's goalie, Andrea Antoni, totaled 11 saves in 90 minutes of action.
Purchase is back in action Wednesday when they travel to Bard College. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
