Panthers Conclude Season on Halloween

Bronx, NY (Oct. 31, 2015) – The women's volleyball team wrapped up the fall season Saturday on Halloween.

The College of Mount Saint Vincent hosted a tri-match that included Purchase and Maritime. The Dolphins swept both the Panthers and Privateers 3-0 to to conclude the season at 15-13 overall and 9-1 in Skyline Conference play to earn the No. 1 seed and quarterfinal bye for the upcoming conference championships.

In the opener, CMSV topped Purchase 25-10, 25-10, 25-10. An early run for the hosts was led by the Dolphins serving duo of Jennifer Roman and Chrissy Sewell, who combined for four aces during that stretch. Patsy Sewell closed out the Panthers in the first set with five straight aces, to secure the 25-10 set victory. In the second and third sets, the Dolphins hit .650% and .542%, respectively.

CMSV's Ashleigh Scozzari led the way with 19 kills. Purchase's Julia Chirlin (SO/Albany, NY) had three kills in the loss. Teammate Thalia Sablon (SO/Rego Park, NY) added three aces to pace the visitors.

Maritime also clinched a postseason berth on the afternoon. The Privateers are seeded sixth for the tournament. Against Purchase, Maritime was led by Shannon Brady. She recorded 12 kills, six service aces and eight digs in the 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 victory. 

Chirlin capped her strong outing with a team-leading six kills in the second match. Setter Alex Lally (JR/Sunnyvale, TX) added a team-best nine assists and six digs.
