(Sept. 19, 2015) – Farmingdale State recorded a 3-0 Skyline Conference win over Purchase Saturday.
The Rams improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the league opener for the two teams. Purchase is now 1-6 on the fall and 0-1 in the conference.
FSC started strong, scoring two goals in the first period. Captain J.T. Famularo scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute. In the 24th minute, John Kender pushed the lead to 2-0. Both first-half goals came off rebounds.
The visiting Rams added an insurance goal by Kender, his third of the season, in the 57th minute. The midfielder dribbled the ball to the end line and shot from the near post to seal the victory.
The two first-half goals proved to be the difference. Purchase held an advantage in corners (8-2), but were outshot 27-12 for the contest.
Farmingdale keeper Kevin Gordillo earned the win. He stopped five shots.
In the loss, Panther netminder
Esteban Aguilar (SR/East Hampton, NY) performed well, despite the final score, recording 14 saves. Aguilar was a bright spot for the Panthers, deflecting several second-half shot attempts to keep Purchase in the game.
The Panthers return to action at Kean on Sept. 23.
