(Jan. 26, 2016) – Purchase women's basketball put together a strong first and second quarter, but visiting Sage remained undefeated on the year in conference play in a 69-41 win Tuesday night.
The Panthers stayed with Sage in the first, playing the Gators to an 11-6 score early before they closed the period leading 17-9.
Purchase battled back and cut a second quarter deficit to 18-15, once again showing plenty of fight.
Sage would go on to outscore Purchase 21-13 in the second quarter and hold a 38-22 lead at the break – one they would not relinquish in the second half. In the process, Sage improved to 15-2 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the league.
Gator forward Genevieve Schoff scored a game-high 29 points, including 17 first-half points to help Sage get out early. Sage's Frankie Pearson added 14 points, connecting on three of the team's six 3-pointers.
Elizabeth Osowiecki (SR/Franklin Square, NY) led Purchase with 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.
April Uhl (JR/Jackson Heights, NY) followed with eight points, while
Kayla Ortiz (SO/Brooklyn, NY) and
Allison Haugh (JR/New City, NY) totaled seven apiece.
