(Oct. 12, 2016) – Purchase College opened Wednesday night strong, leading by a goal at the break, but rival, non-conference opponent Lehman College pulled out a 2-1 win in the second half behind a pair of scores.
In the process, the Lightning improved to 6-5-1, dropping the Panthers to 4-6-2 overall.
The hosts netted the game's first goal off the foot of
Amanda Green (SR/Roslyn, NY). Her sixth goal of the season came off an assist from
Emma Porter (JR/Homer, NY) in the first half.
It was the final regular season home contest for the Panther seniors (Green and
Briana Leon (SR/Glen Cove, NY)).
Lehman regrouped and scored in the first minute of the second period. Daisy Gomez, off an assist from Lillian Barreto, tied the game at one-all.
Gomez would later provide the eventual game winner (49:43). This time, the assist came from Chelsey Harris.
The game would stay 2-1 for the next 40 minutes, as Lehman held on for the one-goal victory.
The visitors held a slim advantage in shots (11-7). Purchase held an advantage in corner kicks (7-4) and saves on the night (6-1).
The Lightning defense was solid in sealing the win over the final 45 minutes.
Porter and Green led the Panthers offensively, accounting for two shots apiece.
The Panthers will look to bounce back in Skyline Conference action Saturday at Mount Saint Mary.
