(Oct. 15, 2016) – Purchase women's volleyball hosted two conference schools Saturday morning, welcoming Mount Saint Mary and Farmingdale State to the campus.
The former bested the Panthers 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-5) in the morning opener. MSMC then squared off against FSC in the noon start and the Rams took that contest in three sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-14).
Against Purchase, the Knights were led offensively by Morgan Burke. Burke recorded a match-high five kills. Teammate Jackie Survilla added four. Setter Kim Gries handed out 10 assists. The passing game was aided by MSMC's Kristen Maddock and her seven assists. Lauren LeGere led the way defensively with eight digs.
Ashley Calder (SR/Merrick, NY) and
Maura Gribbins (SO/Buffalo, NY) turned in solid performances for the hosts in defeat. Calder totaled nine digs – a match high – while Gribbins posted a team-best two kills.
In the afternoon matchup, FSC was paced by Julia Hande. Hande finished with 13 kills and 11 assists against MSMC. Teammate Lauren Anne Strezenec added a match-best 13 assists, while Stephanie Etersque contributed a match-best 17 digs.
In defeat, MSMC's Angelia Cirigliano netted six kills.
