Panthers Cruise to 5-0 Shutout at Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY (Oct. 23, 2016) – The Purchase women's soccer team advanced to 4-3-1 in the Skyline Conference with a 5-0 victory at SUNY Maritime Saturday afternoon.
 
The Panthers (4-8-2 overall) registered four goals in the opening stanza, and capped off its scoring in the 57th minute of play. The lead held throughout the match as the Panthers picked up a league victory to help their push for a playoff position.
 
Purchase senior Amanda Green (Roslyn Heights, NY) netted two, including the game-winning goal, at 6:33 and 25:33, respectively.  Teammate Briana Leon (SR/Glen Cove, NY) tallied the assist on the game-winner.
 
Sophomore Breann McKeon (Staten Island, NY) earned her first goal of the season and the second for the game in the 25thh minute, while Ashley Blom (FR/Bethpage, NY) and Emma Porter (JR/Homer, NY) tallied the final two points for Purchase.
 
For the Privateers (4-14-0, 1-7-0 Skyline), the Senior Day loss marked their final home contest of 2016.  At halftime of the contest, the team recognized the one member of its senior class, Staci Evans, with a brief on-field ceremony.
 
Panther netminder Rachel Mizrahi (JR/Goldens Bridge, NY) (5-8-2) earned her fourth shutout of the season with the win. 

Purchase will cap off its regular season on Tuesday, when the team travels to take on the Mount Saint Mary Knights for a 7 p.m. start from Kaplan Field.
