Balanced Attack Spurs the Panthers to 7-2

Purchase Soundly Defeats CNR, 89-67

New Rochelle, NY (Dec. 9, 2016) – Make it 7-2!

Talk about a hot start to the 2016-17 campaign.

The Panthers got their seventh win in nine tries Thursday night, taking down the College of New Rochelle 89-67 on the road. It is also their fourth win in five games.

The non-conference loss dropped CNR to 3-4.

Purchase built a 42-28 advantage and increased its lead steadily in the second half against the Blue Angels.

The Panthers had four players reach double-digits, led by guard Brian Berrios (JR/New York, NY) and his game-high 23 points. Swingman Deshawn Cann (SO/Queens, NY) had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Panthers.

The visitors also received solid performances from bench sparkplug Givvion Jones (JR/Mount Vernon, NY), who finished with 12 points, four rebounds and one block, and starters Nikeem Deleon (JR/Bronx, NY), Michael Soffer (SO/Agoura, CA) and Tarik Allicock (JR/Brooklyn, NY).

Deleon added 18 points in 18 minutes, while Soffer connected on three 3-pointers en route to 11 points. Allicock cleaned up on the glass with 11 boards and two blocks.

Jack Tisdale led CNR as one of three double-digit scorers. He totaled 17 points.

Purchase dominated the boards, out-rebounding CNR, 57-30 – a key stat on the evening.

The Panthers return to action Saturday at home.
