CNR Edges Purchase

New Rochelle, NY (Dec. 8, 2016) – The Purchase College women's basketball team dropped a non-conference road game to the College of New Rochelle, 66-52, Thursday evening.

Fresh off receiving AD3I Women's Basketball student-athlete of the month award, CNR (4-2) freshmen Dar'Neisha Brice pumped in a 32-point performance to pace the Blue Angel offense.

Down 45-14 at the half, Purchase (2-6) returned for the third quarter ready to work.  The Panthers outshot the Blue Angels 38-21 and forced 10 turnovers over the next 20 minutes of play.

CNR withstood the second half rally and ended the game with a comfortable 14-point lead.

Purchase sophomore guard Lisa Kentris (Latham, NY) paced the Panther offense with a team-high 15 points.  She tallied five steals and collected four rebounds in the loss.  Sophomore forward Amber Jones (Bronx, NY) added another 11 points, while sophomore center Tyra Campbell (Brooklyn, NY) led the defense with a team-best 11 boards and two blocks.

Freshman Ashley Martin added 16 points and eight boards for the home team, while junior Caitlin Harrison had a season-best 15 boards for CNR.  Brice also continued to impress on defense with nine steals while adding six assists on offense.

CNR shot an impressive 50 percent from the field while holding Purchase to 21 percent.  The Blue Angels were also dominate on the boards, holding a 55-39 advantage over the Panthers.  Both teams were sloppy with the ball, with Purchase making one more turnover (25) than CNR (24).

Up next, the Panthers look to wrap up the 2016 portion of their season with a win at St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) this Saturday.  The Skyline Conference game is set for 2 p.m. at the Hill Center.
