(March 20, 2016) – Purchase softball took its first losses of the season Sunday, despite performing well in another twin bill.
Farmingdale State earned an 8-0 win in the opener and closed the afternoon in a 10-1 victory. It was 2-0 FSC heading into the sixth in game one, but the Rams broke it open with six runs in the frame for the shortened win. A bad first inning for Purchase in game two (eight runs by the Rams) paved the way for the doubleheader sweep for FSC.
The Rams improved to 5-9 overall, including 3-1 in Skyline Conference play. Purchase is now 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the league.
The Rams ended game one with a two-run home run before an eight-run first in game two.
In game one, the Rams took a 2-0 advantage on two hits and an error.
In the sixth inning, Farmingdale scored six runs to end the game by the run-rule. Meghan Acton scored first, followed by Christina Rayfield. Ally Mancini hit a two-RBI single to score Cara Camerada and Brittany Ciaramitaro before Meagan Anderson knocked a two RBI homer over the right-field fence.
In the second game, Purchase got on the board in the first inning with a fielder's choice bunt by

Lisa Kentris (FR/Latham, NY).
The Rams used eight hits in the bottom of the first to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
Farmingdale went ahead 10-1 in the third after a Kerri Ossenfort RBI single and Alyssa Chirico's sacrifice fly.
Rams pitcher Jaxie Collard improved to 5-5 with her two victories.
Purchase recorded six hits in the opener, including two from Kentris. Leon led the way in game two with one of the team's five hits, including the lone RBI.
