Palisades Park, NJ
(March 29, 2016) – The Purchase College baseball team opened up Skyline Conference action with a 26-1 victory over Yeshiva University at the Palisades Park Baseball Field on Tuesday evening. The second game of the doubleheader was declared a "no contest".
Purchase scored in all but two innings, including 10 runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. The game ended in seven innings because of the 10-run conference rule.
Five Panthers recorded multiple hits as part of a 21-hit attack. Rookie ace
Brian Cunningham (FR/Westbury, NY) went 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI, two runs scored, and swiped one base.
Mathew Chavez (SR/Brooklyn, NY) batted 4-for-6 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and one stolen base, while
Teofilo Ramirez (JR/Queens, NY) finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Newcomer
Nick Tuozzola (FR/Milford, CT) added another two hits, including a triple in the first inning, and three RBI in three appearances at the plate.
William Kaul (SR/Eastchester, NY) batted 2-for-6 with a game-high four RBI.
Purchase starting pitcher
Lukas Chin (SO/Spring Valley, NY) did not allow a run or walk over three innings of action on the mound.
Dominic Micara (FR/Massapequa, NY),
Andrew Fingerhut (JR/Smithtown, NY) and
Joshua Frank (FR/Dix Hills, NY) closed out the game in relief.
