NJCU Posts 3-0 Victory

Purchase, NY (March 30, 2016) – New Jersey City University topped Purchase 3-0 Wednesday night.

The Gothic Knights (17-16 overall, 8-6 Skyline Conference) posted a 25-8, 25-10, 25-18 final.

The loss drops Purchase to 11-15, including 5-9 in the conference.

NJCU was led by Ivan Prensa and his 11 kills. Daque Wilcox added 10. Prensa also had three aces and two blocks to pace the Knights. Erick Nascimento handed out 20 assists in the victory. David Penaherrera spearheaded the defensive effort with 11 digs.

Riley Damerell (JR/Rochester, NY) led Purchase with six kills. Christopher Williams (SO/Valley Stream, NY) and Luke Kubisch (FR/Delmar, NY) followed with three apiece. Setter Andrew Schwab (JR/Merrick, NY) dished out 11 assists in the loss, while Matthew McCarthy (SR/Fayetteville, NY) and Griffin Rapp (SO/Rochester, NY) were the high men defensively with six and five digs, respectively.

Purchase, looking to rebound, will now hots its annual home tri-match Sunday, when the Panthers welcome Yeshiva University and the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
