Zoe Hines and Purchase women's lacrosse routed SUNY Maritime Saturday at Reinhart Field, opening conference play in the win column.
Hines (SO/Maplewood, NJ) netted seven goals to push her team lead to 24 goals. Teammates
Samantha Rich and
Emma Porter added four goals each, while Turtell recorded three apiece.
Annette Elson and
Nathalie Lavelanet added the other scores in a game the Panthers trailed 2-0 and 4-2 before Purchase railed to tie it 4-4 and take a 9-5 advantage at the half. The visitors finished off the afternoon and their first Skyline Conference win by recording 11, second-half goals.
Purchase is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Turtell three goals all came in the first half and were all clutch, with the first helping the Panthers close the gap to 2-1 and the second tying the score at 4-4 before the third made it 5-4. She has 12 on the season.
Rich, who finished with four goals, is now two shy of 100 for her Panther career. The all-time program leader made it 17-9 midway through the second.
Purchase never looked back.
Maritime was led by Andrea Mitchell, who recorded a team-best three goals. The Privateers also got two goals from Kelsey Ireland and Jane Quinn and Catherine Pfundstein.
Maritime started off the game with a pair of goals. Just over a minute later, Ireland netted a goal off of a quick pass. With the assist, Reynolds tied the all-time mark at Maritime with 13 career assists.
Purchase trimmed the lead in half, but Maritime regained its two-goal advantage as Quinn picked up her second of the game. Another Panther goal, was followed by another Privateer tally.
The Panthers took their first lead of the game on three unanswered tallies.
Purchase closed out the half with four unanswered goals.
After a Purchase opened the second half with a goal, Maritime scored two straight to pull back within three at 10-7.
The Panthers then scored the next five to take a 15-8 advantage.
Team stats saw Purchase outshoot its hosts by a 41-24 margin, while Maritime turned the ball over 15 times to Purchase's nine. Both teams failed to clear on two of their attempts as Purchase was 15-for-17 while Maritime was 13-for-15.
Maritime fell to 2-4 overall, including 0-1 in the league in the loss.
Purchase will return home for a 7 p.m. start on Thursday, April 7 against Mount Saint Mary.
