Panthers Coast Past Sage in Soggy Home Finale

Turtell, Porter Lead the Way

Purchase, NY (April 26, 2016) – A game originally slated for Sage wound up being moved to Purchase Tuesday, as the Panthers fully capitalized on the new home game, posting a 20-7 final over the Gators.

The victory improves Purchase to 9-2, including 5-1 in the conference. The Panthers allowed the game's first goal, but quickly recovered, reeling off nine in a row in their regular-season home finale.

By halftime, Purchase held a commanding 14-3 lead in matchup with Sage and elite scorer Monica Koralus. She entered the contest with 57 on the season. The Panther defense would limit her to four goals. She accounted for four of Sage's seven on the afternoon, one that was marked by steady rain at the outset before the skies opened and the second half.

Reigning Skyline Player of the Week Kelly Turtell (SO/Farmingdale, NY) and Skyline Rookie of the Week Emma Porter (SO/Homer, NY) stayed hot, scoring five-goals apiece. Samantha Rich (SR/Providence, RI) added three, while teammates Madi Smith (SO/Lagrangeville, NY) and Nathalie Lavelanet (SR/South Salem, NY) contributed two apiece. Annette Elson (JR/Las Vegas, NV), Mikaela Connors (SR/Grand Island, NY) and Maria Papp (SR/White Plains, NY) accounted for single goals.

In addition to the goals by Turtell and Porter, the two did an outstanding job in the assist department. Turtell recorded four, while Porter handed out three.

Cynthia Plackis (SO/East Northport, NY) picked up another victory in goal, recording nine saves for the Panthers in net.

Purchase will now travel to St. Joseph's College-LI Saturday. That game will decide seeding for the postseason. The Panthers are currently tied for second place with Farmingdale State.
