Noelle Miller had standout evenings, but Sarah Lawrence prevailed late to topple the two and visiting Purchase, 3-1.
SLC posted a 25-17, 25-12, 19-25, 26-24 victory at Noyes Court, improving to 9-9 overall, including 4-2 in the Skyline Conference. The loss drops Purchase to 0-13, 0-4.
In the opening set, the Gryphons used a 9-2 lead in the early going to take a 1-0 series edge. An 8-1 advantage in the second, coupled with the last four points of the set helped extend the lead to 2-0.
Facing elimination, the Panthers scored the first four points of the third game, jumping out to an 11-4 lead. Following a timeout, the Gryphons scored six unanswered, forcing Purchase to call a timeout of its own. Tied at 17, the Panthers scored three straight points to take the lead for good and force a fourth set.
Purchase looked poised to force a fifth game, holding a 24-17 lead. However, SLC rallied back, scoring nine consecutive points to end the set and complete the series win.
Melanie Coleman finished with a game-high 16 kills and five service aces for the hosts.
With the victory, the Gryphons tie a program-record for conference victories in a campaign.
The Panthers were led by Gribbins (JR/Buffalo, NY) and her nine kills and 20 digs. Miller (SO/Chittenango, NY) handed out a team-best 19 assists.
Nyasia Harris (JR/South Fallsburg, NY) added eight kills.
Kaitlyn Pillig (JR/Mamaroneck, NY) contributed seven kills and seven assists.
