(Oct. 19, 2017) – Daniela Grisales-Agudelo sparked visiting City College of New York to a 3-0 victory Thursday night at Purchase College.
Despite a valiant effort by the host Panthers, the Beavers rallied around an unassisted Grisales-Agudelo score in the 35th minute. Her 12th of the season paved the way the win, with CCNY padding the narrow 1-0 first half lead on second-half goals from Tatiana Zuluaga (58th minute) and the second of the game from Grisales-Agudelo (88th).
CCNY improved to 7-3-2 in the non-conference matchup. The loss drops Purchase to 5-9.
The first half, aside from the CCNY goal, was almost even offensively. The visitors held a slim 7-6 advantage in total shots, with Purchase outshooting CCNY 6-5 in shots on goal.
In the second half, City's defense clamped down and sealed the tight matchup. Dina Sayd, Kimberly Keblish, Alexandra Barrera and Laura Hernandez keyed the defense. CCNY's Catherine Langkamp finished the night with eight saves.
For the game, CCNY recorded 17 shots. Purchase totaled 12.
The Panthers were led offensively by midfielder
Emma Porter (SR/Homer, NY) and forward
Cerissa DiValentino (FR/New Paltz, NY), who netted three shots apiece, and defensively by keeper
Amber Yarter (SO/Albany, NY). She finished with seven saves.
Jessica Warren (JR/Stony Point, NY) also performed well, adding two shots on the night.
