Women’s Soccer Playoff Bound Following Tie at OW

Old Westbury, NY (Oct. 23, 2017) – The Purchase College women's soccer team concluded their regular season Monday at SUNY College at Old Westbury, tying the rival conference Panthers, 0-0, in double overtime.

The two squared off at Panther Park and 110 minutes later could not find a victor in a tight defensive matchup that featured some exceptional goalie play.

Purchase netminder Amber Yarter (SO/Albany, NY) recorded three saves as the visiting Panthers secured one of the top six postseason spots, clinching No. 5 in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament. The postseason opens Saturday.

OW's Mary Clark and Alexa Higgins combined for four saves in goal.

The two teams were evenly matched with OW holding a slim lead in shots (11-10) and corners (5-3).

Purchase was led offensively by Emma Porter (SR/Homer, NY) and Ashley Blom (SO/Bethpage, NY). The duo recorded three shots apiece.
Gianna Levine paced OW with four shots.

Purchase finished the season with a 4-4-1 league record under first-year head coach Breena Salwocki. This is the second consecutive year the program has advanced to the postseason.

Now, the Panthers are slated to play St. Joseph's College-LI in the first round.
