(Feb. 16, 2017) – In their final road match of the 2016-17 season, the Purchase women's basketball team fell to non-conference host Lehman College, 81-34, Thursday evening at the APEX Center.
With the win, Lehman advances to 17-8 overall and closes the regular season on a seven-game winning streak. Purchase drops to 2-21 overall in defeat.
The Lightning roared out of the gate, scoring the first 22 points in the game and never relinquished the advantage. Lehman outscored Purchase 38-4 in the paint, while scoring 16 fast break points. They shot 40.3 percent from the field and hit on eight three-pointers in the game.
Amely Del Rosario posted a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Lehman. Krystal Pearson came one board shy of a double-double with 19 points along with nine rebounds and four assists. Ayanna Behagen scored a career-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Marta Czaplak (10) also scored in double figures.
The Panthers (2-21) were led by senior guard
April Uhl (Jackson Heights, NY), who scored a team-best 11 points and three steals. Senior center
Frances Minaya (San Fernando, CA) led the defensive effort with 13 boards, while sophomore forward
Lisa Kentris (Latham, NY) chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.
Purchase will conclude its 16-17 season at home on Saturday, hosting the Sage Colleges on Senior Day.
