Streaking Lehman Gets Past Purchase

Bronx, NY (Feb. 2, 2017) – Riding a win streak, Lehman posted a 93-81 victory against Purchase Thursday night.

A strong shooting performance the entire game propelled the Lightning (14-8) in the non-conference affair. The victory extends the Lehman's winning streak to six games. It has now won eight of their last nine matchups.

Lehman's Damian Bellamy recorded his second straight double-double, leading five players in double figures with 21 points along with 15 rebounds. Luis Hernandez posted a double-double of his own, adding 15 rebounds with 13 boards and six assists.

Purchase was led by Michael Soffer (SO/Agoura, CA), who totaled a game-high 22 points in a losing effort. Kewan Beebe (JR/Glen Cove, NY) also connected on four 3s for a 14-point effort.

Lehman was red-hot shooting the entire game, shooting 53.7% (36-for-67) from the field including 17-for-30 in the first half. The hosts also held the rebounding margin.

After allowing a small lead early on, Lehman would erupt and move ahead by as many as 14 points in the first half. Purchase would cut the deficit down late in the stanza thanks to six of their 11 3-pointers and the Lightning led 42-36 at the break.

In the second half, the Panthers would put the pressure on Lehman and kept the game close. The Panthers would only trail by two at 14:15 remaining.

However, the Lightning would respond with 12 of the next 14 points.

The late, second-half surge keyed the win for Lehman.
