(Mar. 21, 2017) – The Purchase College men's volleyball team tied the program record for season wins (12) on Tuesday after a 3-0 victory over Yeshiva University at the Max Stern Athletic Center. Set scores were 25-15, 25-8, and 25-16.
The Panthers (12-5, 3-2 Skyline) never trailed at any point in the match. The Maccabees (3-10, 1-3 Skyline) kept the first and third sets close, but could not go on a consistent run to put pressure on Purchase.
Purchase tallied an impressive .429 attacking percentage as a team, led by current Skyline Conference Player of the Week
Kevin Carges (SR/Brockport, NY), who totaled 14 kills on 22 attempts (.636) without a single error. He also collected five service aces and paced the defensive boards with 11 digs.
Luke Kubisch (SO/Delmar, NY) chipped in with seven kills while
Andrew Schwab (SR?Merrick, NY) added six kills, two solo blocks and 18 assists.
For Yeshiva, Jonathan Greenberg led the team with five kills. Itai Guttman slammed home four kills of his own and added two blocks on defense. Senior libero Hirschy Zaks anchored the defense with a team-high eight digs.
The Panthers will return to their home court on Mar. 30, hosting the City College of New York for a non-conference match starting at 7 p.m.
