(March 28, 2017) – Inclement weather moved Tuesday's Skyline Conference contest between the Purchase College women's lacrosse team and SUNY College at Old Westbury to Farmingdale State.
The rival Panthers would go on to take the matchup, 19-5.
The loss drops Purchase to 1-2 overall, including 0-2 in league play.
Old Westbury (1-5, 1-0 Skyline) earned its second-straight conference-opening win by defeating Purchase for the first time since 2013.
OW's Sara Bey broke the scoring ice 1:01 in before Halle Johnson doubled Old Westbury's advantage 1:36 later for the 2-0 lead.
After two Purchase goals, Old Westbury went back-to-back with scores for the 4-2 advantage.
Another pair of OW scores would follow to extend the lead to four goals before
Kelly Turtell (JR/Farmingdale, NY) notched a score for Purchase. Her goal with 10:09 remaining ended Old Westbury's 4-0 run to make it a 6-3 game.
Imani Blake found the back of the net to spark Westbury's 4-0 spurt over the final 5:59 to take a 10-3 advantage into intermission.
Old Westbury opened the second half with a 5-0 run ignited by Bey's fourth goal of the game.
Treuman capped the big run by scoring her third goal of the game with 16:19 remaining to make it a 15-3 game.
OW outscored Purchase 4-1 over the final 9:27 as Bey scored her 17th goal of the season with 1:02 left to settle the 19-5 final.

Cynthia Plackis (JR/East Northport, NY) surrendered 14 goals and made 14 stops in defeat for Purchase, who were led by Turtell's two goals.
Madi Smith (JR/Lagrangeville, NY),
Zoe Hines (JR/Maplewood, NJ), and
Astrella Dacosta (FR/Croton-on-Hudson, NY) also had goals for Purchase.
