Patchogue, NY
(Jan. 18, 2018) – St. Joseph's College-LI senior Isaiah Moore scored his 1,000th career point as the host Golden Eagles snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 61-53 victory over Purchase College Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles improve to 3-11, including 3-7 in the Skyline Conference. Purchase is 9-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
Moore shot 5 of 10 from the field and scored a game-high 18 points. The four-year Golden Eagle eclipsed the milestone mark with a 3-pointer at 9:27 of the first half.
SJC-LI's Mike Harris contributed 13 points, four assists and three steals off the bench.
Purchase's
Nikeem Deleon (SR/Bronx, NY) matched Moore with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting.
Tarik Allicock (SR/Brooklyn, NY) added 13 rebounds.
Deshawn Cann (JR/Queens, NY) contributed six assists.
After matching the Panthers nearly point-for-point in the first, SJC-LI, trailing 27-24 with 51 seconds to play in the half, scored the period's final four points — all courtesy of Harris — to take a one-point lead into the break (28-27).
With 10:01 to play in regulation, a Deleon layup put the guests up 45-40, but a 10-3 run, capped off with a Moore 3 at 7:00, saw SJC-LI take a 50-48 lead.
Two converted free throws by Moore with 40 seconds to play extended the hosts' lead to seven points (60-53), and Harris' tally from the charity stripe with six seconds on the clock proved to be evening's final score.
