Oswego, NY (Nov. 16, 2018) – Josh Gregory recorded 29 points and 16 rebounds to lead SUNY Poly to a 76-63 win over Purchase College on opening day of the
Max Ziel Tournament hosted by Oswego State Friday night.
It was a tale of two halves on the neutral court. Purchase (0-2) came out hot in the opening 20 minutes to take a 38-36 lead at the half. The Panthers netted 17-of-34 (50%) from the field. Senior captain
Michael Soffer (Agoura Hills, CA) led the charge with nine points and four rebounds, while also collecting two steals and a block.
SUNY Poly (1-0) fired in eight unanswered points in the first minute of the second half to take a 44-38 lead. After netting 17 first-half points, Gregory continued to lead the Wildcats in the second stanza with 12 points and an impressive 14 boards. Poly never rescinded its lead en route to the 76-63 victory.

Rob Grullon (Wallkill, NY) and sophomore guard
Jorge Perdomo (Bronx, N) came off the bench to lead Purchase with 14 points apiece. Soffer finished with 11 points, five rebounds and a game-high four steals. Junior guard
Elijah Lott (East Greenbush, NY) led the Purchase defense with eight rebounds, two of which were on the attacking end.
The Panthers look to bounce back on day two of the tournament. The team will take on Elmira College at 2 p.m.
