(Dec. 9, 2018) – Farmingdale State hosted Purchase College for a Skyline Conference men's basketball game on Saturday, with the Rams coming away with a 101-82 victory to improve to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Despite the loss, Purchase (4-4, 2-2 SKY) produced some notable performances, including the scoring talents of junior guard
Maxx Miller (White Plains, NY), who tied with Farmingdale's Matthew Graham with a game-best 21 points.
Over the first 6:02 of the game, Farmingdale State was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and opened up a 22-13 advantage.
After a
Jorge Perdomo (SO/Bronx, NY) layup with 9:14 on the clock cut the Purchase deficit to 30-29, FSC answered with a 7-0 run to go out in front by eight. The Rams outscored the Panthers 10-2 over the final 2:09 of the first and took a 63-43 advantage into halftime.
FSC shot a season-best 70% (26-of-37) from the floor in the first half as Ryan Kennedy recorded 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting, including 5-for-5 from behind the arc.
Farmingdale State held a 65-48 lead early in the second half and went on a 7-0 run to open up their largest lead of the game, 72-48. FSC held its lead for the remainder of the game en route to the 101-82 Skyline Conference victory.
For the home team, Graham led the way in points (21) and assists (7), while Kennedy finished the day with 20 points and tied a career-high with six 3-pointers made. Ali Mableton tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and junior guard Kyle Beeson added 11 points (5-for-7), seven rebounds and a game-high four steals. Rounding out the six double-digit scorers for the Rams were Anthony Miller Jr. and George Riefenstahl who each had 10 points in the win.
For Purchase, Miller led the team in points (21) on 9-of-16 shooting and pulled down five boards. Junior guard
Elijah Lott (East Greenbush, NY) chipped in with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Senior guard
Michael Soffer (Agoura Hills, CA) netted 16 points and Perdomo finished with 11 points.
Purchase will close out 2018 at Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday 7 p.m.
